July 4th weekend at Black Butte River Ranch is a yearly treat for the Possum Family Singers.   The Band appears Saturday night at 6 PM on the main stage.   This year, July 4th occurs on Wednesday, so the Weekend defaults to the 7th.

http://www.blackbutteriverranch.com/  There is a party there for the community–several bands, mud-wresting, not much sleep.  Remember–Mud always wins.

July 4 2011 at the BBRR J4FEST

At the confluence of the Eel and Black Butte riversBlack Butte River Ranch is a 14 acre facility in eastern Mendocino county located 14 miles east of Covelo, 196 miles from Oakland.

On 101 to 12 miles north of Willits, head east on hi-way 162.  Stop at Keith’s Market in Covelo for Ice and whatever, head north, then east at the Black Butte River Resort sign.  bear left, north, at the Y, where thankfully, there is now an arrow!  and follow the river to the bridge-about 14 miles, there it is.  We camp in the shade under the big Oak tree, just inside the gate.  The waters are sublime, the confluence warm, and cool.  JI says, 74 and 78 degrees, perhaps.

The Baltic in April

Posted: April 10, 2012 in Live Music

The Possum Family Singers return to host a quasi-open mic and after-hours blues-jam free-for-all at the Baltic Bar and Restaurant, 135 Park Place, behind the Mechanic’s Bank Train Station in Beautiful Point Richmond, California.  That would be this coming Thursday, April 12, 2012, 7:30- 10 PM, no cover, great food and a full bar soaked with history, and possible thunderstorms.

4.9.11 we went to chester’s last night to Barry’s birthday party. Scruffy grabbed a slice of birthday cake with his paws and shoved it in his mouth, chocolate frosting all over his face, hands, and table. Stumbling down Walnutstreet, his shoe came off, he sat on the curb trying to get it back on. A woman came to help. “he’s had four Martini’s”I said. “I’m just sorry I don’t have a video camera.” She replied, “He’s in good hands.”

Under the Porch

It’s been raining so hard all the ‘Possum ‘Puters have been too wet to Post.  Rain!  What is that stuff??  Ever so timidly we ventured out Saturday to re-enter the Starry Plough, newly committed to the Saturday Starry Plough Happy Hour Circkle–Kudos to visiting Yard Sale accordionista and mystery guests from Madison Wisconsin for clapping for every song.  The locals are so jaded, but true fans come late and buy another pitcher—so we stay on for cheebies–Let's give the Band a Hand! or twowell into the soundcheck until our little ears tremble  .  . .

Apologies and bandages to any and all fans and supporters who have ever been bitten, abused, treated shabbily, snarled at, made to endure an unpleasant odor, or invited to insert a percussion device into an inappropriately-sized or -located orifice, by any or all members of the Possum Family Singers.

It is the policy of 3/4 of the band members of the Possum Family Singers to be friendly, supportive, adorable, enjoyable, fun, helpful, kind, and positive and to provide a warm, cozy, safe  atmosphere for drinking, eating and listening to the otherwise delightful Possum Family Singers.  Unfortunately, some forget to uphold the Possum Family Singers code.

In this light, we hope you will come visit us at the Baltic Bar and Restaurant this Thursday February 9, 2012, from 7-10 PM, and gather ’round in a spirit of hope and tasty beverages.
