The last day I spent with Scruffy, April 5, 2013, we got our Westy smogged and had lunch at Gallego’s on SP Av.  Here they are the day we decided to get it.  Time stamp says June 21, 2013 at 11:43 AM.

Thank you for your many gifts, Steve.  You taught me to sing;  You taught me to live.  Thank you.

New Possums

With the loss of our Meter, Scruffy, there is always an empty chair to be filled, even with the guests that come and go.  Kurt helps out on guitar, rhythm, and great songwriting.  Lately we have Art’s Accordion, maybe another Banjo can come in there, too.  It’s less of a struggle to sing the sad songs- tho, the 6 month mark is coming up next Saturday.  So grateful for the flow of things, that he would go away on a day we would all gather to play, the continuing miracle of community, family, music, food, and fun.  It is the Possum Way.MT06 085

Summer’s almost gone

Watching the days grow shorter, night time is the right time for music around a big bonfire, toasted peeps and even stars.  Time to get away to the smoky foothills and pig out on some great open-air fare, fish fry friday and spaghetti saturday–leave the chips for another day.

Goodbye Possum Lounge

Dragging the round table into yet another, yet smaller, space,  Sad to say goodbye, but maybe an upgrade, after all.  This may be the prize.  The energy here is so sweet, so warm, maybe the whole issue was the ghost-infested Apartment One.  Here in the studio we can focus on what matters, beer! friends! and oh yeah, the music

it Bites!

Posted: June 21, 2013 in Live Music

2013 is turning out to be the year of the bite–Not a spider afterall, but a flying tick, leaving Muffy with a (possible?) case of Lyme Disease, with a side of Dead Honda.  Possum has the psycho-killer landlord blues.  Fritz seems to be handling it all with aplomb (he’s a plumber, geddit?)  and Scruffy, well, bit the big one.

The crazy/scary landlord story is a juicy one, all written out in longhand in my Tacoma Journal, but I may pull it all together for a big post of its own, or bury it in the back yard.  Perhaps the East Bay Subgenius Express will publish it in the best-of issue, once this all blows (and bites)  all over.
