Dear Reader (from a long answer to a long question about racoons)
Opossums are the strong silent type, with an occasional soft growl, hiss, or the smacking sound you make by pressing your tongue against the roof of your mouth and SNAPing it off.

Possum Family!
Posted: November 1, 2010 in Live MusicTags: banjo, cello, harmonies, Mandolin, Martin, Phil Jones Bass
The Possum Family Singers are a loose gathering of pesky varmints wailing and playing instruments, with 3 or four-part harmonies, and some darn good singing, too, in the Glam-billy tradition of the West-East Bay, on or under porches from San Leandro to Point Richmond, East to Covelo–and a tip o’ the O’Possum hat to ye from the Ploughy Star!
What makes it happy? Furry boots, tiny amps, fine, goose-bumpery voicings, and cat-slapping fun.
Americana, eclectica, Folk-Rock classics, trads and originals.
Come visit or jump in almost every Saturday from 4-7 pm at the Starry Plough Pub on Shattuck Avenue on the Berkeley/Oakland border.
Draft and bottled beers, tasty pub food and Giant french fries. No cover–add something to our lovely blinkin’ tippin’ pitcher! And always tip your bartender.
